The sixty-third Malibu Stakes is a Grade I race for three year-old horses to be run at seven furlongs at Santa Anita Park. While as close to 8 furlongs as it is to 6f, the 7f distance is still viewed more as a sprint. The Malibu is the final Grade I for three year-olds of the racing season while kicking off their "older racing career (4+) which officially starts on January 1st.
This year's Malibu features Breeders' Cup Classic favorite Shared Belief. Shared Belief starts from the eigth position and has been made the 4-5 morning-line favorite. West Coast perennial leading trainer Bob Baffert, has four of the nine remaining runners coming out of his barn. The Form Cycle and Pace Figure analysis below highlights only our top two choices.
