Woodbine Oaks (08/01/21)

Woodbine, Race 8

Synthetic, 9 Furlongs

.

#1 Curlin's Catch 3/1

Hasn't had the strongest performances against stakes company but track record of negative dirt spreads would suggest longer distance and synthetic are the right spots for this one.

#2 Jilli Marie 8/1

Has done little wrong sprinting to a 3 for 3 start. Good combination of speed and compression consistently running around 75/73. Not much for pedigree to suggest two turns is a positive though.

#3 Miss Marie 10/1

She was a bit geared up on debut at 77/70 NEG but quickly settled down in her second start going longer to a 60/74 REV victory. A repeat of last out would have her needing a clean trip coming late against a tougher group.

#4 Lorena 2/1

Undefeated sprinter has wire the field last couple tries with the 84/80 DTOP a standout performance in the field. Handled stakes company last out to a 70/74 SOFT and now gets tested for two turns. Adds Lasix here and might be tough to catch.

#5 Youens 30/1

Set a TDL 2nd career start on turf and has a good record of late-running turf spreads although the Final Figures have been a bit slow. Carries a COMP/NPT combo when trying dirt last out. Good development and form for this one, just one that is overall a step behind a group like this though.

#6 Emmeline 12/1

Prompted a 65/70 REV when trying two turns for the first time and bumped that late energy up last out going two turns again at 66/74. Another move forward here with a little extra distance puts this one right there with good value offered.

#7 Erasmo's Girl 30/1

Debuted as a 3-year old with an expected boost to 61/70 from much slower juvenile running lines. Now needs another dramatic improvement here 2nd off the layoff to figure much in this race.

#8 Lady Moonshine 15/1

A pair of mild efforts to kick off the career, they'll experiment with blinkers today as she's been a bit slow early on both synthetic and turf.

#9 Il Malocchio 8/1

Developed on this track as a juvenile from a slow 61/67 sprint debut to a 64/72 DTOP when trying two turns for the first time. Last out's return to Woodbine produced a 67/71 sprint so assuming she can transfer that development to today's return to two turns, expect a performance that puts her right there today.

#10 Munnyfor Ro 9/2

Professional when making local debut as a juvenile to trigger a 68/68 COMP and has been developing on turf with a PLOW triggered in May. The 61/73 when back to Woodbine is a good spot to spring off of here. Has a chance to run on clear from the outside here.

My Picks: 9-4-10
