The first real major test for three-year-old horses on the Road to the Kentucky Derby is the Fountain of Youth Stakes from Gulfstream Park, just 30 minutes north of Miami Beach. In its 76th edition, the Grade II Fountain of Youth is run at 8.5 furlongs for a purse of $400k. Five of the eight starters exit the Holy Bull Stakes which was run at Gulfstream on January 24th.

Juan and Bina (20/1)
A distant fourth in the Holy Bull Stakes, he went off at 80-1 and was slowing down as they hit the wire though he did run his fastest final figure lifetime of 70.9. He moves inside and picks up Javier Castellano, the top jockey in the country. His dam was Caressing, a terrific racehorse, but she has yet to prove herself with runners on the track in the US.
The Play: Too Slow – as much as we like the jockey change, his Pace Figures say he is to slow to compete.
