I'm on #17 Tiz the Law (3/5) to win the Kentucky Derby and think he's as likely a winner as his morning line suggests. The way to make money for me will be to beat Honor AP and Authentic out of the gimmicks. Leaning on Max Player, Enforceable, Storm the Court, Major Fed, and Attachment Rate to spice things up underneath.

#17 Tiz The Law (3/5) is a complete standout in this year's Kentucky Derby. A son of Constitution, Tiz the Law is the total package – mind, athleticism, tactical ability, and the will to win. It will take a combination of a regression from Tiz and another horse jumping up in a major way to see this horse lose the Derby this year. Depending on what the final field looks like by post time, there may be a rare instance where odds of 3/5 or 4/5 in a field of this size truly represents a horse's chances of winning. If you're looking to play exotics, perhaps consider horses like ENFORCEABLE (#3, 30/1 ML) and SOLE VOLANTE (#12, 30/1 ML) underneath.

#12 Sole Volante (30/1) despite being royally bred for the grass, has been a special horse showing his class by tackling the main track as well. He strung together 6 really sharp races before taking one off last out which only adds to his value here in a bounceback spot. I don't deny Tiz The Law is a deserving favorite and has been magnificent all year, but horse racing is a long-term game, and I'm more confident consistently backing undervalued runners like this that possess the foundation to break out and surprise than I am yielding 3/5 to a runner needing to sustain a long string of high performance while avoiding trouble from a tough 17 post.
