Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner American Pharoah ran five furlongs in 1:00.20 on a fast track under Martin Garcia at 8:30 am ET on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, KY. The Bob Baffert-trained 3-year-old will attempt to become horse racing's 12th Triple Crown winner and the first since Affirmed in 1978.
Splits for the workout, which occurred under light rainfall, were :13, :25, :36.60 and :48.60. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:13, seven furlongs in 1:26 and one miles in 1:39.60.
American Pharoah will leave Churchill Downs' Barn 33 at 10 am ET on Tuesday for van ride to Louisville International Airport. His charter flight to Long Island MacArthur Airport is scheduled to depart at approximately 11:15 am ET with a 12:45 pm arrival time.
