Odds to win the Breeders' Cup Classic. Can California Chrome return to glory? Odds courtesy of Bovada.lv.
The Breeders' Cup Classic is the year-end championship for thoroughbred racing. With a $5 million purse, the Classic is the richest race in all of North America.
The race is open to horses 3-years-old and older and is limited to 14 starters. Seven of the runners in this year's field will gain automatic entry by winning a race in the Breeders' Cup Challenge – “Win and You're In” qualifiers.
Shared Belief (15/4) is the early favorite to win the Classic ahead of Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome (4/1).
Shared Belief is an undefeated colt that came from behind to win the Grade I Pacific Classic at Del Mar on August 24, 2014. Shared Belief is in contention to win Horse of the Year despite missing the Triple Crown races due to a foot injury.
California Chrome is set to run the $1 million Pennsylvanian Derby in September as a tune-up for the Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita in November.
How deep is the field? Ride on Curlin has the longest odds at 30/1. Ride on Curlin finished second to California Chrome in the Preakness and has hit the board in five of seven races this year.
