Introduction to The Race Finder (11/13/15)

The Power of History – The Race Finder

There is power in history. It is upon this premise that team from PredictionMachine.com first developed the Trend Machine. And while not predictive in nature, understanding how teams, players, leagues and betting markets have reacted to various scenarios is a tremendous supplement to an analysis of an upcoming matchup.

This same theory applies to horse racing. Following the launch of the Value Plays here at Predicteform, the development and analytics team desired to mirror the Trend Machine for horse racing. The goal would be to enable this engine to not only have the power to understand history but to find those similar and relevant races that fit the same criteria in the future – and with that the Race Finder was born.

The Race Finder is the first fully transparent results driven database for horse racing. Powered by the Pace Figures and Value Plays, the Race Finder let's you see the results by Value Play type of specific criteria you select including: total starters, average odds, number of wins, WIN %, WIN ROI, ITM (in the money) % and show ROI.

To demonstrate how to use the Race Finder, please click on this shared search link and then view search for the NPT-Turf (11/12/15).

For this search we pre-loaded race criteria using the “Add rule” green button on the far right. After selecting “Add rule,” we clicked the “AND” button in blue on the left and specifically selected the following four criteria.

  • Distance – 8 furlongs or greater
  • Purse – Greater than $100,000 (which covers mostly stakes)
  • Surface – Turf (only)
  • Form Cycle Pattern – NPT (which means at least one runner had a NPT pattern)

At this point you can also choose to add more rules by clicking “Add rule” and selecting another criteria from the drop down menu (note – if the AND button is darker blue, the criteria selected must be included; click “OR” if you want the criteria to not be mandatory).

Once you've completed search criteria, click the Find Races button to get your results. The following image represents the results from the four criteria selected.

As you can see, the Top Contenders in races that fit the criteria have two wins from 21 starters but the ROI is a very healthy 53.8%.

Below the results of the Race Finder search is a list of upcoming races (or in this case race) that also fit the criteria of the search titled: NPT-Turf.

At Churchill Downs on 11/14, Race 10 meets criteria of the NPT-Turf. Click the Pace Figures link to access the Value Plays for that race. Season Ticket is the Top Contender (and 15/1 morning-line) and we know from the search results that, historically, the Top Contender with the exact race situations produce an ROI of over 50%.

In this case, his NPT Form Cycle Pattern and double-digit odds are gravy!

We encourage you to check out the Race Finder, save and store specific searches and of course, if you have any questions, please contact customer support.

Welcome to Predicteform

Predicteform.com Pace Figures, Form Cycle Patterns and Value Play picks will tell you if a horse is likely to improve or regress in its next start. Easily accessible from any computer, tablet or mobile device, Predicteform.com services horse players of all types. Access to printing PDF's is also available.

How do I get started?
Visit the Learn tab on the navigation bar where you'll find the Predicteform.com Legend and Pattern Guide. These two tools combined will give you the knowledge you need to use Predicteform.com:

The Legend helps to explain how best to read the Pace Figures. It clearly defines what every line, symbol and figure means.

The Pattern Guide highlights Form Cycle Patterns, a series of 12 symbols/abbreviations, each with its own definition. These patterns are the easiest and most effective way to evaluate what we can expect from a horse's future performance and expected form cycle.

Value Play Picks use the automated technology and process to evaluate every track and race as well as the Predicteform.com team's analytical expertise, we can now rank every horse by its likelihood of winning the race and value (initially relative to morning line odds).
Value Play picks are included as part of all subscriptions and you can view now on the Free Race of the Day.

Blinker's Off - We have also published founder Cary Fotias' unabridged book on Form Cycle Analysis, available by chapter free to all who register.

Free Race of the Day – Every day, we will make available the Pace Figures and Value Play Picks for at least one race. Pace Figures are what subscribers, both in the Value Play Picks and the comprehensive "advanced" view, can see for every horse of every race at every track. Check out today's free race here.

Free Track of the Weekend - Each weekend (Fri. - Sun.), Predicteform will offer access to the Value Play Picks, Pace Figures and Form Cycle Patterns. Access to this data will provide new users an ability to follow along and learn how read, analyze and use the Predicteform technology.
